Chief Executive Officer – Leeds Autism Services

Pete trained as a Mental Health Nurse but decided that it was not his vocation and left the profession before completing the end of his final year. He went on to work in a number of different health and social care settings before joining the charity ‘Leeds Autism Services’ as a Support Worker in 2001.

Since launching his career with the charity, Pete has undertaken various roles and was appointed Chief Executive Officer in late 2017.

He has worked directly with over 100 autistic adults and their families/carers, and indirectly with many more. During that time, he has gained a unique insight into the shared traits which define such a diverse group of people as being ‘autistic’ and has learned that he is neurodivergent himself.

Pete is a passionate believer in the equal rights and fair treatment of autistic and neurodivergent people and in recent years has made it his mission to educate others on autism and neurodiversity through public speaking events, training workshops and professional consultancy.
