Honouring Our Communities –
Beyond Assumptions

This Black History Month, under the theme “Honouring Our Communities,” we are reflecting on what it means to truly listen to families, challenge assumptions and make space for lived experience to shape better support.

Over the years, Afrikindness has worked alongside parents, young people, professionals and community partners to explore issues including safeguarding, mental health, inclusion, identity and access to services.

These experiences sit at the heart of APIC2026: Beyond Assumptions 2.0 — encouraging us to look beyond what we think we know, listen more deeply and respond with greater understanding.

Below are some of the reports and community insights that continue to inform our work and the conversations we are taking forward at APIC2026.
