Multidisciplinary Visual Artist & Community Arts Practitioner
Immanuel Obani, professionally known as Immanuel The Artist, is a Nigerian-born, UK-based multidisciplinary visual artist and community arts practitioner based in Bradford. Working across acrylic painting, charcoal and digital media, his practice explores identity, culture, belonging, memory and the experiences of African and diasporic communities.
Through expressive portraiture and symbolic imagery, Immanuel examines how personal and collective histories shape our sense of self. His work often draws upon nature, ancestry and cultural heritage to create visual narratives that encourage reflection, connection and cultural healing.
Alongside his studio practice, Immanuel contributes to exhibitions, cultural events and community-led creative initiatives across the UK. His work has been presented through platforms including the Bradford African Festival of Arts and other arts and community showcases. He also supports the development of culturally grounded programmes that use creativity to strengthen wellbeing, representation and community connection.
For Beyond Assumptions 2.0, Immanuel is honoured to contribute as a visual artist and creative documentarian, working collaboratively to capture the conference’s key conversations, experiences and reflections through written documentation and visual storytelling.
